As the evening sun sets in New Jersey, it is bedtime for some of my teacher colleagues back home in Egypt. Tomorrow is the first day of school for the whole country. Some teachers dread of going back to school. Some welcome it with open arms because they are tired and bored of the long vacation. Funny posts come up in Facebook, revealing the feelings and the mental states of the teachers. Whatever it is, tomorrow is as real as it can be.
As I am writing this post at 1.07 am in New Jersey, some of my colleagues will be up and running to get the day started, preparing themselves and their children for school. It will be a busy morning as they scramble to restart the routine of school-time after almost 3 months of vacation. There will be many sleepy-heads, some tears (from children I hope and not teachers), and I believe there will be many enthusiastic souls, eager to start the day.
Whatever it is, I wish all the best to my colleagues. With newly renovated classrooms and teachers rooms, newly acquired equipment and facilities, more new teachers as well as students, I hope that it will be a great year for the school and the staff. I’m sure it will be. With a very cohesive team, hardworking teachers, administrative staffs and support staffs as well as dedicated and committed administrators and principals, I’m sure they can soar to greater heights. Together, as a team and a family, you can do wonderful things and anything is possible. Kudos for a wonderful year of 2015-2016 and best wishes for the coming year of 2016-2017.
My wonderful colleagues – I really miss our times together…….
